Description

The Edifier R1280T and Edifier R1280Ts are the handiest speakers Edifier has ever invented. Their control knobs are placed at the side of the speakers and both of the speakers allow music lovers to adjust volume, bass, and treble according to their needs. What I found more convincing about Edifier R1280T and Edifier R1280Ts is that they come with remote control as well. You can adjust the volume, bass, and treble by the knobs or using a remote control, whichever is feasible for you. Since both of the speakers are equally easy to control, I can not call any speaker superior simply by judging the control. Whether you are watching a movie or listening to jazz, these speakers won’t disappoint you when it comes to performance. Should you buy the Edifier R128T? Appreciate me or not, appearance matters to me. Therefore whether it’s speakers or not, I do not compromise on the looks. To be very honest, the first thing that captured my attention and convinced me to try out these two speakers was the ” sleek and stylish design”. However, they appear more or less the same. If both of the speakers are placed together, you have to observe pretty keenly to find out the difference. There are some solid chances that you would not find any noticeable difference.

Turning the bass too much causes some distortion, which marred the otherwise great highs and middle. In terms of bass, they're fine at moderate levels. Although the bass isn't loud enough to cover a large room, it's adequate for smaller spaces like dormitories, bedrooms, and workplaces. If you are a music lover and want high-quality sound at your home, you will love this device. Edifier R1280T is a set of efficient speakers. They are straightforward to use and control. These speakers are easy to maintain as well. The materials and build of the device give it strength and make it quite durable. The colormap provides you the locations with the best (green) and worst (red) listening experience. I used over 800 measurement point which was enough to compute the sound field of the speaker within 1% error. There is a nice body on the bottom end, much more than you’d expect from the driver size. This is most likely due to the design of the speaker enclosures and the materials used. There is a flared bass port out the front of each cabinet that measures just slightly larger than the tweeters, which seem to be doing a lot of work on the low end of the spectrum. But what’s also surprising is just how much detail is available on the higher end of the spectrum—something that is usually sacrificed with more bass in smaller enclosures.

These were the first "real" speakers I bought, and I've owned them for quite some time now. I used them for my computer desk at home, but ended up replacing them with some KRK Rokit 5 G3's years later. These ended up going to my desk at work. Measurements that you are about to see were performed using the Klippel Near-field Scanner (NFS). This is a robotic measurement system that analyzes the speaker all around and is able (using advanced mathematics and dual scan) to subtract room reflections (so where I measure it doesn't matter). It also measures the speaker at close distance ("near-field") which sharply reduces the impact of room noise. Both of these factors enable testing in ordinary rooms yet results that can be more accurate than an anechoic chamber. In a nutshell, the measurements show the actual sound coming out of the speaker independent of the room.

Fleetwood Mac’s “Landslide” sounds richer and fuller while The Beach Boys’“Wouldn’t It Be Nice” sounds clearer and more detailed. Taylor Swift’s “The Lakes” gets more richness in her voice and better representation of the string instruments. Twin Shadow’s “To the Top,” on the other hand, has a bit more punch to it with a little more bass and better defined low-end while also keeping things on the high-end present. The appearances of both speakers are very similar; you won’t notice much of a difference. They both look and feel similar. Unlike the Edifier R1280T and R1280Ts, the R1280DB features two auxiliary inputs - one for coaxial and one for optical - rather than just one optical input. This is a great advantage for those who own DVD players or game consoles.Edifier R1280T, with its high-quality features, has been proved to be a very well-received product among the public. It is brought to the market by reliable manufacturers and is made out of high-quality materials. It is mainly due to the speakers’ small size that lowers the bass quality but still provides smooth sound quality. Also, these speakers work well with midrange frequencies. So, if you listen to acoustic, jazz, or indie music, the R1280T is the right speaker for you. Performance The frequency response ranges might not seem all that impressive. However, you’ll see the difference when you turn up the bass. Thanks to the high response, you won’t hear much of a buzzing sound - although it’s still there if you listen very carefully.

A 4-inch (116mm) subwoofer and 13mm silk dome tweeter are included in the R1280DB. The Edifier R1280DB's frequency response ranges from 55Hz to 20kHz, which is rather good. There isn’t much information in Edifier’s product descriptions on just what these speakers are made from, but our best guess is that most of the construction is comprised of a molded plastic or polycarbonate enclosure, with two wood slats acting as paneling on the sides of each speaker. Each main woofer is built of the usual cloth/felt-type material, and the tweeters employ the standard silk. Both of these material choices are in line with our expectations for a speaker of this class. The Edifier R1280Ts and R1280DBs have an external subwoofer. This external subwoofer is detachable, which is both a good and bad thing. The subwoofer can be removed by simply unplugging it from the active speaker. This means that you can upgrade to another external subwoofer if you want to.

This is why Spinorama was apparently groundbreaking news for audio industry. Hence in the mid-late 2010's, most brands and magazines began publishing Spinorama measurements, despite the challenges of making such measurements. Edifier is a well-respected speaker manufacturer recognized for its reasonably priced, high-quality speakers. There is a major difference between the R1280T and R1280DB speakers when it comes to connectivity options. The s-series speakers - R1280Ts and R1280DBs, on the other hand, feature an external subwoofer. If you are like me, you have many feet behind you so the "front wall" reflection is not going to be as material as normal far field listening. Going with what we have, we more or less have the same issues as on-axis so EQ correction should be rather effective.
